A longer review is available on my blog reviewsofbooksonmynightstand.bThis really didn t read like a mystery for me I would categorize it as women s fiction than a true mystery There are some questions that are raised in the book but it moved so slowly that it felt like women s fiction or literary fiction There were also not too many shockers in the book, either The reader is kind of led to the answer to what the secret that Linnet and Myna have kept from the very beginning and there were a lo [...]

I was excited to start this book It had a nice cover and a good blurb However, I thought it was too slow and predictable The ending left me with a feeling of incompleteness The book narrates the story of two close siblings who were each other s best friend until an event separated them for decades Linnet is the one that stayed home She s in charge of the family s BB She took it over after her mother s passing Linnet also takes care of her dad who s suffering from dementia Linnet is married and h [...]

Katchur excels at making setting a character and the BB and the town of Mountain Springs was both creepy and insular The relationship between the sisters is what really drives this character driven mystery what happened in their past to split them apart There is a current and a past mystery and they re woven together seamlessly.

This book was just what I needed yesterday an easy, fast paced, escape from the doldrums The story line was detailed and fairly complex, but I could not give it than 2 stars because the characters were wooden and the grammar errors were unacceptable and distracting sentence fragments and misuse of commas, and also incorrect usage of longtime when what the context intended was long time If the author can t catch these things, where are the editors and proofreaders

When hundreds of snowbirds mysteriously die and fall to the ground in this small mountain town, it sets in motion a chain of events that will dredge up the past Katchur does an excellent job twisting the lives of two sisters torn apart by secrets This fast pace story lures you in from page one as you see how one sister neatly buries their childhood while the other sister struggles under the weight of it Truth is a character here that searches for a voice It witnesses an unexplained murder, rattl [...]

    27. Cris says:
I picked up the book because of the setting Pennsylvania which didn t figure into the story much.I found the pacing to be a bit leisurely for my tastes, and while there is a mystery revolving around a suspicious death, The sisters of Blue Mountain is not a mystery It s borderline literary fiction with a strong focus on the sisters relationship and family secrets. The characters are complex and generally appealing And frankly it s nice to read about characters I like even when they make mistakes.

    28. Lisa says:
Really great read Set in the Eastern Pennsylvania mountains, it tells the story of Linnet and Myna, sisters who are alienated because of a family secret The characters in this book are appealing and very relatable This story could very well be written about any family in America, in any venue That is what I think makes this suspenseful, page turner an excellent book I took this on vacation, and it was an extremely enjoyable beach read 5 stars for The Sisters of Blue Mountain

    29. Anne Dempsey says:
I got as far as the description of Pop, a 73 year old whose mind isn t what it used to be As a nearly 70 year old, I reject gratuitous ageism wherever I see it So this book goes back to the library tomorrow And the author may want to explore facts and attitudes about people older than she is Seventy three is not elderly today.

    30. Angel Hollingsworth says:
