    1. Ginny Gafford says:
Practical advice Real life and funny stories I m going to read the bible study book next with one of my mom groups I m anxious to see if it and the videos are as good as this book.

    2. Mercedes Cordero says:
I didn t have high expectations when I first began reading this book The authors sometimes try too hard to be funny and witty Some of the motherhood myths were not myths for me at all I thought I wasn t going to be able to relate But I was wrong It took me a while to get there, but I did right when I got to chapter 7 Yep, it got me good Up until that chapter I was going to recommend this book to women thinking about becoming moms, to those who are pregnant and the ones who are just starting now [...]

    3. Sarah says:
I received an ARC from NetGalley 10 14 15 The points in this book seemed obvious to me based on my previous reading, but I think other women would benefit from it It is written with the almost too enthusiastic tone used in many books for Christian women, which wears on me after a while 10 27 15

    4. Kristen Gebbia says:
My favorite parenting book ever Karen and Ruth are both very honest and personable You ll feel like you re sitting down over a cup of coffee to have a great chat with two moms You ll laugh, maybe cry, and definitely be convicted in a good way over the motherhood myths you ve been believing But not only do the authors identify the myths, they also show you how to replace those lies with Gods truth I borrowed this book from the library, but I m going to buy my own copy now because this is a book I [...]

    5. Lexi says:
I LOVE Karen Ehman She is so down to earth, but always shares practical wisdom This book was no exception Just what I needed in this season of motherhood with little I particularly enjoyed chapter 3 about the right way in motherhood Her cautions to not add to scripture on what it means to mother the right way, was very convicting Highly recommend

    6. AnnMarie says:
One of the things I really liked about this book was they didn t over generalize Too many books about marriage and motherhood make assumptions, and this one didn t This book regularly applied the thoughts, If you have a husband, or if you ve adopted In that way I felt it was a book for every mom, no matter your circumstances.

    7. Aimee W. says:
I wish I could give it a 3.8 it s better than 3 stars but not actually a 4 Star for me I rarely give books 5 stars unless I LOVE them Overall, I liked what they said and I think moms of younger children would especially benefit from reading this.

    8. Cherish says:
Great book Definitely made me rethink how I view different parenting styles.

    9. Laura says:
I read this book right after my first son was born and with the way Christian mom groups can be these days, it was a wake up call that I didn t want to be one of those judgemental moms who clings to the decisions made about her family than her Savior As believers, we can all be reminded what our true purpose is when raising kids Things like breastfeeding vs formula, stay at home vs working, and any other mom camp you can think of will try to separate us from desperate community with other moms [...]

    10. Amber says:
Great book on debunking common myths of parenthood, moving from pregnancy through the college adult years.

    11. Amy says:
The myths of motherhood how many of us as moms struggle with the ideal image of motherhood What actually depicts the perfect mom Do we trust the TV shows, social media, a peek into our friends lives, or that Proverbs 31 woman in Scripture How can we know if we are doing this thing right, or failing miserably Where is the line between myth and reality Karen and Ruth have co written this book to help enlighten us At least, those of us who are willing to admit, in spite of the outward image we port [...]

    12. Julie D. says:
This book has opened my eyes to things I believed about motherhood and my role in it I didn t realize I believed I had to be so perfect as a mom, but I realized in reading this book, that I did.I can remember when my children were younger and they would do something that wasn t a good choice and I looked at it as a reflection of my parenting It was horrifying if they did something like have a tantrum or didn t behave properly in a social setting because I just knew that others knew what a bad mo [...]

    13. Wren says:
The title here says 6 myths but my book is titled 10 myths I was hesitant to read this, because lately all the Christian books I ve been reading for women have felt less than thought provoking, poor writing, and full of anecdotes and cliches I was drawn to this book strictly by its cover yes, yes I know , and did not regret reading it It was so encouraging to me personally It s not a self help book with step by step instructions although there are helpful tips and lists how to make your child be [...]

    14. Colette says:
This book surprised me I loved the infusion of scripture into the core message The message that I got is that when we focus on our relationship with Jesus Christ and God our Father, we will see the error of these myths and have the guidance and confidence a mother needs One thing I noticed is that I m doing better as a mom than I thought Reading through the chapters on each myth helped me see which areas are problems for me, and which are not I was surprised when I noticed what myths I took note [...]

    15. Kenzie says:
I read this book as a part of the launch team prior to the release I felt like a fraud reading the entire time, because only now am I pregnant with my first, and not actually a mom yet That being said, I am thankful for the chance to read the book and learned than I thought that I would, since I have no prior experience with mothering I have enjoyed Karen Ehman s books before her writing is easy for me to engage with, but this was my first time reading Ruth Schwenk, and she was a little too sun [...]

    16. Sarah says:
I think a part of me actually believed that some of these myths I had already figured out I though this would be a good read but I didn t realize how much it would really speak to where I was as a mom There was a great deal of underlining, starring, and circling for me in this book None of us is perfect and many times we can be hoodwinked before we even realize it The messages in this book are not just for moms starting out, although I do think I will be using it as a gift for newbies often, but [...]

    17. Susan Foster says:
I read this as part of a Book Discussion led by Candace Cameron Bure on her website Having a few assigned chapters to read each week made it manageable for me, and I was able to continue reading a fiction book during the same time period Hoodwinked was very easy to read and a lot applicable to me than I had expected it to be I thought it would be for new moms, but I found that I had operated under several of the ten myths explored in the book It was an encouragement to me, and I will continue [...]

    18. Amanda says:
I received an ARC for being apart of the launch team Myth 1 Mothering is natural, easy and instinctiveWow,this book is a must read for every mom Hoodwinked was a huge eye opener for me that I had bought into the myths of our current culture surrounding motherhood and I realized that I was being robbed of my joy and a healthy, happy relationship with my children because of it The amount of pressure on moms and kids today is astonishing and it s no wonder we mothers feel like failures. This book wa [...]

    19. Angie Tolpin says:
This book and study is fantastic The topic is near and dear to my heart as a woman, wife, and mom The topics covered are very complimentary to my first online bible study Redeeming the Division The Quiet Fight Between Women Which you can find out about here quiet fightgietolpin Hoodwinked focuses on the issues that mothers typically face when being in competition with one another and exposing the lies women believe with regard to how they should perform as a mom So good.

    20. Kathy says:
We all believe lies and myths when it comes to being a Mom When we do, we suffer and from guilt, shame, and the feeling that we never can do it right We need to know that is not how God designed us to live and we need to find the victory over the myths that are out there This is a great book for a mom at any level I d definitely recommend it and plan on passing it on to my Mom friends

    21. Bobby says:
No Hoodwinked Mom s This job of being a Mom is hard enough without taking on extra Karen gives great ideas, and lots of common sense ideas that are overlooked in today s world on how to slow life down and create joy And how to separate your identity from the choices your kids make They are their own little people who make their own choices, and you are not their choices I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to be a better, less stressed out Mommy.

    22. Shauna says:
I was excited to read this book and really wanted to like itbut I didn t The advise and intentions were good, but the ability of the authors to keep a reader interested was lacking I also didn t like how the author bounced back and forth with stories, so I never really knew who was telling what I believe there are some that would eat up this book, but it just wasn t for me.

    23. Sarah says:
Where was this book when I became a mom almost 18 years ago When people ask me what I do, I always say, I am JUST a mom I have learned that I am than a mom First and foremost, I am a child of God, etc Lots of mom myths that are gone over in this book Great extras included in the back of the book I would recommend this book to any new mom out there

    24. Joann Rodriguez says:
This is the best book I have ever read for moms So full of encouragement, wisdom and love for moms Doesn t matter if you are a work at home, work outside the home or a stay at home mom this book is for you God has used this book to open my eyes and bless me and hopefully the wisdom I gained from reading this book will be used to bless other moms around me I love this book.
